Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager will assist with the preparation of various internal and external financial reporting requirements, ensure timely and accurate billing to Reef Home Owners, supervise the Reef Owner Services team, will assist with the documentation of and compliance with internal controls. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including monthly general ledger closing activities, internal and external financial reporting, review of balance sheet reconciliations and year-end budget and audit schedule preparation. The Accounting Manager will supervise Fort Lauderdale Owner Services staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
Preparation and oversight of monthly reporting packages which include:
Balance sheets and P&L
Balance sheet reconciliations, review and approval
Quarterly cash flow analysis, actual vs budget
Calculation of restricted cash balances
Preparation and oversight of monthly financial reporting to Owners which includes:
Preparing and sending statements reflecting revenues earned and fees assessed
Payments to Owners and collection for those past due
Aging of amounts due from Owners
Estoppel Certificates for unit resales
Various supplementary schedules as required
Supervision and training of Accounting and Owner Services staff
Review and approval of general ledger journal entries
Budget preparation and presentation package for Board of Directors
Financial presentation for Annual General Meeting of all Owners
Assist with the preparation of annual audited financial statements and related footnotes
Legal
Working knowledge of contracts, agreements and condominium documents
Awareness of legal agreements, restrictions and various entities responsibilities
Owner Services
Communication with owners for question resolution including obtaining insurance certificates
Manage Condotelware, troubleshoot and communicate with stakeholders regarding issues to be resolved
Preparation of monthly & annual reports of revenue by unit by category
Participate in planning and attendance in owner related events, as necessary
Communication with Owner Services staff regarding ownership changes
Internal Controls & Other
Key team member to assist with any documentation of internal controls and related reviews to ensure compliance with established internal controls and that proper supporting evidence and documentation is maintained
Assist with any other ad hoc reports, requests or projects as needed
Some travel to Bahamas required at least quarterly
Skills, Experience & Education Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have:
Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting and graduate level degree in related field (preferable)
Must have at least 8-10 years of accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility as well as experience with supervising and managing staff
Knowledge of US GAAP
Self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
Ability to make decisions and recommendations
Experience with Home Owners Associations, JD Edwards and Condotelware a plus
