Technical Writer Job Opening in Fairmont, West virginia - Healthcare Management Solutions, LLC (HMS) is seeking potential candidates to fill an anticipated Technical Writer position to work in our Fairmont, WV or Columbia, MD office. The Technical will provide and support writing, editing, and formatting of project documentation and deliverables ensuring consistent quality.
Responsibilities:
Assess the needs of the client and/or end users ensuring accurate content in technical documentation * Assist management and/or team members in the development of project plans, templates, guides, training, technical documentation, reports, and other artifacts as deemed necessary * Create and prepare 508 compliant documentation and deliverables in PDF, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point * Review documentation for areas of non-compliance according to 508 guidelines and standards * Provide recommendations for ensuring 508 compliance of web applications and content * Gather feedback from the client and/or team and implement to improve the quality of project documentation * Participate in requirement reviews, functional demonstrations, user acceptance sessions, and test planning discussions as needed
Desired Skills & Experience:
Knowledge of the structure/content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar * Knowledge of Section 508 compliance and compatibility guidelines * Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) is required * Experience with Adobe Acrobat and PDF formats is preferred * Experience with 508 compliance tools, specifically JAWS, is preferred * Ability to prepare, write, review, and modify technical and managerial documentation is required * Ability to review, understand, and discuss technical documentation is required * Ability to collaborate with team members to implement and modify changes to documentation, content, and/or the dissemination of information * Must be detail oriented ensuring consistency in the quality of work products * Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
Minimum Education and Training Requirements:
BS in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, or Communication preferred * 1 - 3 years of experience in technical writing is preferred * 1 year experience with 508 compliance is preferred * Equivalent on the job experience or training will be considered and HMS will accept any suitable combination of education, training, and experience as indicated above to fulfill the position description
