Lead Carpenter Job Opening in philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Lead Carpenter LEAD CARPENTER JOB DESCRIPTION Definition: A lead carpenter is defined as a craftsman with a skill and experience level greater than a general carpenter, helper or laborer. The carpenter shall have the experience and skill set to perform all aspects of residential construction and remodeling. A lead carpenter must have a minimum of five years of experience as a general carpenter and the ability to lead a crew of general carpenters, helpers and laborers. Job Requirements Experience: Minimum of five years in all phases of residential construction. Knowledge: Knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety. Proficient at the following tasks: Framing, stain-grade trim work, hanging doors, setting tile, installing plumbing, setting windows, laying out stairs and common rafters, laying flooring, installing cabinetry, reading plans, utilizing appropriate math skills. Interpersonal and Communications Skills: Ability to understand verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with other team members. Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process to facilitate harmonious working relationships during project and provide prompt resolutions to problems and conflicts as they occur. Organizational Skills: Ability to organize assigned tasks, for completion alone or with help. Able to maintain and oversee a safe and organized work environment. Able to complete and fulfill paperwork required for personal time sheets in a timely manner. Problem Solving: Able to envision all steps in assigned tasks. Must have ability to direct helpers and laborers in the building process. Working Conditions: Most of your working time will be spent working at job sites. Some driving is required. Valid driver's license is required and personal transportation is required. Some overnight travel may be required for extended periods of time. In these cases, temporary housing will be provided and a travel allowance will be agreed upon prior to travel. Physical: Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction project. Must be able to climb ladders with heights of up to 60 feet, and crawl for distances of 50 feet. Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber and materials. Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required. Hazards: Normal hazards associated with construction environment. Safety: Must conform to all safety requirements. This includes safety glasses and hard toed boots being worn at all times. Hardhats, gloves, ear protection and other safety equipment must be used at appropriate times.
