The position involves indirect patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is not required to serve this population.
POSITION SUMMARY
Conducts new hire screenings and annual employee health screenings to include health history, immunizations update and brief physical assessment under the direction of a physician. Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment and programs related to occupational health services. Offers health educational materials. Collaborates with Human Resources Generalist or Director to ensure completion of all health screenings. Conducts surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to all communicable diseases. Plans, implements and conducts annual flu vaccine program. Plans and implements other vaccine programs as directed by APIC, OSHA, CDC and other regulatory agencies to include MMR screening and education as needed. Conducts TB screening for all new employees, all other employees and volunteers according to the Hospital TB control plan annually. Provides education on an as needed basis regarding flu and MMR vaccines and side effects. Strives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. Functions within the Nursing (RN/LPN) scope of practice. Demonstrates awareness of an adherence to legal requirements to employee health and safety. Conducts new employee orientation in Infection Control/Employee Health as needed. Maintains employee health records. Maintains summaries of employee illness/injury reporting. Provides concise data and tracking of all exposures. Assists with the compilation of data for Columbus Hospital LTACH Hospital Infection Surveillance and report. Provides initial assessment of employee injuries and illnesses and assures the proper referrals are made with Workers Compensation physician practice in collaboration with Human Resources Department. Responsible for assuring the appropriate access and utilization of healthcare services. Participates as an active member of any hospital-wide committee as requested by Administration.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a minimum of RN. Two (2) years relevant experience in a heath care environment required. BLS certification required.
