Overview
The Program Manager reports to the Director of Special Projects and is responsible for researching, developing, managing, supervising, integrating and evaluating current and future programs that are aligned with the mission of the organization and support the overall strategic goals of the organization. He/she is responsible for coordinating the implementation of grant awards and ensuring that all aspects of the project or program are done according to the grant terms and conditions. The Program Manager is an integral part of Special Projects department and participates in team meetings and strategic grant or program development and report development.
This position is funded in whole (or in part) by a grant, as such employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Grants Management
Manage existing and new program grants by: tracking grants (ongoing monitoring of grant program goals, monthly performance, budget and expenditures); developing project/program work plans; developing internal reporting systems; writing reports; maintaining excellent historical records; and working with staff to ensure each project or program is meeting proposal conditions and expectations.
Work with clinic leadership to develop programs; research data/best practices; coordinate planning, implementation, and evaluation; and identify and assess program opportunities according to overall strategic objectives.
Coordinate with multiple departments to gather necessary data to report on achievement and evaluation of grant goals and objectives.
Review and communicate award completion dates, altered timeframes, milestones, and major changes in budgets to appropriate staff.
Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with clinic leadership to ensure effective grant management and advancement of program implementation.
Assist with other fundraising projects and assignments as needed.
Program Development and Management
Provide program management of TCC?s maternal and early childhood programming whose goal is to carry out evidenced informed interventions that address/prevent childhood exposure to toxic stress and improve parent-child relationship and parenting practices. (currently funded by the Keck Foundation, First 5 LA Project DULCE, Miller Foundation and LBUSD Community Schools).
Continually examine and provide leadership with respect to the integration of program objectives, standards, policies, procedures and practices into the clinical practice; and train clinic managers and staff on program components.
Oversee, conduct and lead parenting classes and outreach activities of maternal and early childhood programming
Work collaboratively with the Finance Department to manage program budgets.
Track program outcomes as specified by grant objectives.
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure compliance with all program regulatory requirements, internally and externally.
Work collaboratively with the QI and Compliance Committee to measure, evaluate and improve program effectiveness.
Write grant reports for relevant programs
Ensure regular dissemination of activities or results of program planning and improvement efforts, including frameworks, program descriptions, articles, reports or decision tools, across departments and to external audiences, where appropriate
The Project Manager must be able to communicate effectively within the health care, community and social media environments as well as with patients and their families. This person must be willing to perform grassroots activities in order to meet the goals of the larger community.
EDUCATION:
Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Work (MPH, MPA or Macro MSW) or Masters Degree in related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3-5 years related post graduate experience
3-5 year experience in coalition work at the local or state level desired
3-5 year experience in and understanding of effective primary prevention
3-5 years of supervisory and project management experience, including design of grant proposals, development of evaluation tools and evaluation of health programs, data analysis and report writing
QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent speaking, writing and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal and presentation skills
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines in a high-quality manner; attention to detail as needed
Strong health care knowledge required to strategically develop, design, and communicate health programs of all types
Excellent knowledge of community health needs, planning tools and approaches and methods, as well as public and community health models and frameworks
Strong leadership and mentoring skills
Knowledge of grants and grant administration systems, processes and budgeting
Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; multi-task; shift priorities as needed
Bilingual: English/Spanish required
Ability to travel
Desire to achieve significant prevention outcomes and commitment to reducing disparities in health
