About the Role:
The Principal Accountant, Payroll will be an integral part of the Global Accounting team to ensure accurate payroll account reconciliations, and the integrity of financial aspects of compensation and benefit related expenses. Using your solid accounting knowledge, you will ensure that accounts related to compensation and benefits are properly stated on financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IFRS, provide critical support for and collaborate with the corporate global accounting operations team, and maintain effective internal controls.
Responsibilities:
Perform compensation and benefit balance sheet account reconciliations
Review payroll reconciliations completed by in house shared service center
Support the payroll reconciliation improvement process; prepare templates and schedules for reconcilers to be used as a standard reconciliation backups
Assist with research and clean-up of outstanding items for complex payroll reconciliations; track progress and collaborate with regional payroll teams
Regularly review and submit requests for AssureNet assignment updates of payroll reconciliations
Prepare global payroll journal entries and ensure monthly journal entries prepared by in house shared service center are posted in a timely manner
Proficiently operate in accounting modules of an ERP System
Assist with non-payroll monthly close functions as needed
Participate in global standardization efforts for policies and procedures of payroll accounting
Motivate, engage, and provide support to the accounting operations team members and cross functional business partners
Monitor monthly compensation and benefit expenses, perform variance analysis, identify drivers and make adjustment journal entries if necessary
Prepare and review schedules in support of internal and external audit process and requirements
Coordinate and ensure ongoing compliance with SOX
Qualifications:
BS in Accounting or Finance
CPA is desirable
Minimum 4 years of experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses and payroll accounting
Advanced Excel proficiency and working knowledge of Oracle R12 are desirable
Outstanding oral communication, analytical and written skills
Ability to build strong, cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively
Attention to detail, organized and thorough
Demonstrated experience in driving process improvement
Ability to work independently and as a strong team player
Ability to meet tight deadlines
