Finance Associate Job Opening in New York, New york - RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cash Receipts: reconcile daily and weekly batch reports from the Box Office and Development; prepare posting headers for each batch and post to general ledger; assemble all deposits and take to the bank; update cash flow schedule.
Cash Disbursements: prepare invoices and check requests for accounts payable vouchering; cut checks on a weekly and as-needed basis; have checks signed by Executive Director or Trustee (offsite); update cash flow schedule; process and log void checks; envelope and mail/distribute checks.
Purchasing: oversee systematic use of the Joyce?s American Express card; complete and file credit applications; maintain W-9 files; maintain good vendor relationships.
Fixed Assets: update and maintain records on fixed assets and calculate and record depreciation.
Payroll: accumulate, proof, and organize weekly and bi-weekly payroll information and enter into ADP on-line system; maintain spreadsheets on miscellaneous wages and various payroll deductions.
Personnel:
Monitor changes in employment law and update Employee Handbook as needed.
Communicate with staff individually and as a group about employee benefits; attend to staff requests for information or assistance with benefit plans.
Work with insurance agent and staff in selecting group insurance carriers and renewing policies for medical, dental, disability, life and workers? compensation insurance.
Administer Section 125 Plan, 403(b) Thrift Plan, and TransitChek program.
Maintain employee personnel files, attendance records and shared Outlook calendar.
Post job openings as directed by the Director of Finance or Executive Director.
Alert the Executive Director when a new hire?s three-month orientation period is coming up.
Other: assist with annual audit and budget; prepare, mail and file 1099?s; respond to requests for information and employment verification
REQUIREMENTS
Two or more years of experience
Thorough knowledge of Excel
Neatness, accuracy, and genuine interest in duties
AA/EOE
