Staff Accountant Job Opening in Seattle, Washington - The Washington Physicians Health Program has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time Staff Accountant to provide general accounting to WPHP Controller and daily administrative operations. This is a part-time, flexible weekday schedule, non-exempt position working 24 hours per week.

Position Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable : * Processes monthly client and state billings. * Manages billing and collections process. * Applies WPHP Financial Assistance Program to WPHP clients. * Communicates with WPHP clients as needed regarding past dues balances, updating credit card billing, and keeping contact info current. * Works with Assistant in maintaining client credit card database and in recording credit card and check receipts. * Maintains petty cash account.
Accounts Payable : * Process A/P invoices received. * Obtain proper invoice approval and pay when due. * Accrue month-end expenses. * Maintains petty cash account. * Reconcile monthly bank and investment account statements.
Payroll: * Prepares and processes administrative and facilitator payrolls. * Monitors sick leave and vacation balances. * Monitors and submits deposits to WPHP?s 403(b) and 457 retirement plans. * Monitors and submits deposits to WPHP Section 125 plan. * General Ledger : * Prepares and processes month-end journal entries. * Reconciles bank statements and reconciles balance sheet accounts. * Assists controller with annual audit. * QUALIFICATIONS * BA Accounting or Business Administration required. * Minimum five (5) years accounting experience; healthcare or non-profit experience preferred. Additional requirements are:
In-depth accounting software experience beyond QuickBooks (MS Dynamics Great Plains preferred).
Minimum two (2) years? experience in accounts receivable billing, recording, and collections.
Payroll processing experience preferred.
Proficiency with MS Office.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Excellent organizational skills, customer service skills (telephone and in-person), demonstrated attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work. Self-starter; ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Excellent communication skills both in-person and in writing - including but not limited to administrative correspondence, spelling, grammar, etc. * Ability to adapt and handle administrative and clinical priorities on any given day using judgment and time management. * Represents WPHP with professionalism at all times. * Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion. * Demonstrates a professional image, accountability and excellent working relations with all administrative and clinical staff, clients, Board Members and outside parties in a professional appropriate manner. * Ensures work assignments are repeatedly handled with detail, success and follow-up. * Meets attendance expectations. * Follows all WPHP policies.
