Staff Accountant Job Opening in Everett, Washington - The Adopt-A-Stream Foundation is a private non-profit corporation. Its mission is ?to teach people how to become stewards of their watersheds.? That mission is carried out by: producing environmental education materials, conducting Streamkeeper Academy classes, and providing local communities stream and wetland restoration technical assistance.
To expand its mission capabilities, the Adopt A Stream Foundation is developing the Northwest Stream Center ? a place where up to 45,000 visitors a year will learn the interconnections between forests, wetlands, streams, fish, wildlife and people. This fall, the Northwest Stream Center is projected to open to the public on a daily basis.

Now being recruited is a multi talented Accountant with growth potential for the person with the right set of experience, skills and education. Starting salary DOE; 24 hours per week. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, the successful candidate will be receive a monthly employer contribution to a Simplified Employee Pension Plan that is 12% of salary.
This position requires a degree in accounting and 8+ years' accounting experience. Necessary skills include:
a thorough knowledge of Quickbooks accounting software and the Microsoft Office suite. Non-profit accounting experience is a plus, as is an interest in Pacific Northwest Ecology.
Duties include:
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
Oversee Payroll
Calculate and file B & O taxes
Reconcile accounts
Create accounting reports
Prepare Income Statements and Balance Sheets for internal use and Board Meetings
Prepare Budgets
Track Capital Assets and Depreciation Schedules
Process journal entries
Maintain inventory counts
Prepare for Annual Financial Audit and Prepare 990 Tax Forms
Other accounting duties as needed
Assist with environmental education classes as needed.
This is a part time position that could go to full time in the future. We offer a casual atmosphere and a flexible schedule. The office is located in a park in Snohomish Co, WA.
Northwest Stream Center Environment
The Northwest Stream Center is located on a 20-acre site leased from Snohomish County Parks and Recreation. On site there is a Visitors Building that includes office space, a small natural resource library. Also, there is a 160?foot long Trout Stream Exhibit and a ½ mile long Elevated Nature Trail through complex forest and wetlands next to a salmon stream that are the primary visitor attractions.
