Retail sales/Receptionist (part-time) Job Opening in salem, Oregon - Retail sales/Receptionist (part-time) JOB FUNCTION: The Receptionist and Shop Associate is responsible for the retail operation of the Council Shop and provides receptionist duties at the assigned service center. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a customer orientated service that enables Girl Scout members and visitors to receive appropriate services and to purchase Girl Scout uniforms, insignia and related merchandise. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Utilizes sound merchandising techniques in selling and promoting Girl Scout merchandise in the Girl Scout Council shop. 2. Recognize and greet each visitor or caller in a warm and friendly manner taking messages or answering questions as needed to provide responsive customer service. 3. Receives and receipts registration for troops and individuals, maintains office record and forwards copies to the Regional Service Center. 4. Receipts monies for office transactions and prepare for transfer to the Corporate office. 5. Maintains troop program and library resources. 6. Ensures the accuracy of daily sales and cash receipt records and maintains a daily and monthly summary of sales. Submits copy of report to supervisor. 7. Maintains adequate, appropriate stock for the Girl Scout shop by conducting periodic inventories, maintaining accurate inventory controls, and ordering correct quantities of items needed to meet seasonal and special demands. 8. Maintains knowledge of official uniforms and information regarding selling points of new items. 9. Contributes to the services of the council by sustaining customer-friendly, attractive, well-maintained and organized shop and reception area. 10. Oversees security of all daily receipts, including banking. 11. Ensures that all telephone, mail, on-line and FAX orders are filled in a timely manner. 12. Displays and promotes merchandise. Makes recommendations to supervisor for items to be placed on sale. 13. Participates in year-end inventory process. 14. Participates in the planning process to provide input to the development of responsive and fiscally sound services. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. Two years of retail and sales experience is preferred. Experience in utilizing retail sales software is a plus. High degree of organizational skills, flexibility and ability to work without direct supervision and with diverse groups of people is essential. Composure under stress, pleasant telephone voice and communication skills are desirable. Willingness to accept the principles of the Girl Scout movement as expressed in the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Girl Scouts of Oregon and SW Washington encourages and supports diversity.
