Qualiy - Safety Specialist Job Opening in Greensboro, North carolina - Quality Machining/Safety Specialist
Will Manage and oversee shop floor Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental System activities and functions.
Coordinates with related departments and functions, vendors and customer representatives to ensure compliance is met. Responsible to assist Supervisors in multiple departments to lead hourly employees by effectively planning work, and shop floor activities, ensuring that all team members adhere to the Quality-Safety System and effectively utilize the production reporting system.
Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures , drive actions to abate and control hazards and communicate safety concerns and issues to all levels of the organization. Work with Supervisors & Engineering to help manage assigned jobs from inception to shipment to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key
Facilitates safety committee meetings and oversees activities of Plant and Housekeeping committees, reports findings and recommendations to management,provides management assistance with of action items resulting from audit results.
Conducts comprehensive safety training for temporaries and new hires, and required OSHA training and supplementary safety training for all employees.
Perform incident investigations and corrective actions for sustainable prevention measures.
Ensure the timely preparation of required reports, prepare environmental permit applications as necessary. Oversee and direct hazardous and specialty waste management system
Monitor overall quality trends across shop operations. Drives operations management to identify and correct issues preventing the achieving of higher product quality and lower rework I warranty costs .
Field audit vendors and sub-contractors as needed to support purchasing; evaluate capability to meet quality requirements; monitor vendor performance.
Oversee nonconforming and warranty issues; review rejected material reports; act to ensure corrective action. Monitor and drive the facility to manage customer issues raised to closure in accordance with the processes and tools established under the quality system.
Establish and implement procedures to meet Quality System requirements; ensure compliance with pertinent codes and specifications.
Develop and establish or arrange for procedures for performing specialized inspection procedures; maintain required records and documentation.
Audit and consult with sales, engineering, manufacturing and other involved functions on a regular basis to ensure procedures are followed and specifications are met; review and reconcile problems.
Recommend and arrange for the acquisition of required specialized inspection equipment as required; arrange for the repair of inspection equipment and tooling; oversee calibration of equipment.
Provide liaison with customer representatives conducting capability surveys and audits at the facility.
Facilitates, coordinates and drives implementation of new quality methods and procedures, and process improvement initiatives in support of continuous improvement.
Measures and analyses performance of key performance indicators (KPl's) with the purpose of driving continuous improvement.
Mentor and train personnel in the fundamentals and use of tools such as, but not limited to auditing, root cause analysis, lean methods, and six sigma analysis tools.
Facilitate and lead the Management team in implementation of data driven process improvements focused on improving customer loyalty yielding business growth.
Qualifications
Associates Degree in technical related field from an accredited college or university or its recognized equivalent in relevant work experience.
A minimum of 5 years' experience with metal working in a manufacturing operation, including hands-on dimensional inspection and quality control processes with machining and/or fabrication. Welding experience preferred.
Must have training or experience with reading mechanical drawings and tolerancing. Geometrical tolerance experience preferred.
· Must have effective intercommunication skills to coordinate and manage complex job requirements with various employees, suppliers and departments.
Must have experience operating computer and office equipment as required, with intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and general MRP systems usage.
