Software QA Tester Job Opening in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Job Summary The QA Tester is responsible for the testing and validation of the core software and client requested enhancements. The candidate will work with BAs, developers, and PMs to define testing requirements and execute test cases.
Essential Functions:
Work with BAs and Developers to clarify and understand the software requirements.
Write test cases from requirements.
Execute test cases and document the results of test case execution.
Utilizes effective time management skills to work on multiple projects simultaneously to meet project deadlines.
Responsible for ensuring that the software meets client expectations and client satisfaction.
Provides status of testing effort.
Performs functional, regression, and integration testing.
Write User Acceptance test cases to be used by client?s end users.
Assist with resolution of client issues.
Contribute to continuing development of QA methodology based on industry best practices in order to continue to improve delivery to client.
Analyze 'hard to test or replicate' scenarios and come up with strategies to overcome those challenges.
Work with developers to perform root-cause analysis and preliminary problem diagnosis.
Diagnose defects and track them from discovery to resolution.
Ability to quickly learn and practically apply new concepts, principles, products, technical and business knowledge.
Ability to think in the abstract and see how small details fit into the bigger picture.
Education, Experience and Other Skills
Bachelor?s degree in a computer science major or related field preferred but not required.
Candidate should have at least 3 years prior web and client server testing experience.
Background working on projects in government, financial, and/or healthcare industries preferred but not required.
Manual testing experience necessary.
Exposure to automated testing a plus.
Skilled at analysis and troubleshooting on web based software.
Experience using bug tracking tools.
Experience in creating and analyzing database queries.
Candidate must have experience using formal software development methodologies.
Candidate must have strong sense of commitment to deliver projects on schedule and to exceed customer expectations.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills, and a solid understanding of the business application development life cycle.
Ability to provide customer walkthrough?s or training if necessary.
Candidate must be able to develop formal business documents including test plans, test cases and other project documentation using: MS-Word, MS-Excel, and Visio.
Must be able to work in a team environment as well as have the ability to work effectively with limited guidance from managers.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels in the company.
Ability to handle and be trusted with confidential and/or sensitive information.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to be flexible and to handle multiple projects in an organized, timely manner.
Ability to work independently.
