Payroll Administrative Assistant Job Opening in Arlington, Virginia - Mission1st Group, Inc. an opening for Payroll Administrator in support of our headquarters located in our Arlington, VA office. The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of payroll reporting for the small business staff which includes both exempt and non-exempt employees as well as hourly, salaried, and special appointment employees. The Payroll Administrator will assist with Payroll, Time Entry, and Payroll Taxes resolving inquiries from various lines of businesses, employees, and departments.
Managing the Timesheet entry system using Replicon and processing weekly timesheets and bi-weekly payroll
Training new on the timesheet entry system to include ensuring timesheets are properly entered with accurate hours worked
Providing user support to all employees entering timesheets, timesheet modifiers, and timesheet approvers
Assist with preparing the monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll reconciliation
Assist with reviewing payroll discrepancies and determining the problems and when necessary, initiate adjustments and recommend appropriate actions
Reviewing, comparing and balancing payroll related accounts on a monthly basis
Assist with reconciling monthly payroll reports with internal system records
Assist with processing monthly payroll journal entry as needed
Assist with preparing, computing and submitting year-end information not normally handled through payroll processing such as supplemental income, moving expenses, educational grants (when applicable), etc.
Attending new employee orientation weekly, explaining payroll taxes, as well as direct deposit procedures
Handling employee payroll and tax-related correspondence, complaints & inquiries
Assisting with registrations for taxing and unemployment authorities.
Works closely with Human Resources Department on employment verification requests.
Job Requirements
Bachelors Degree and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience using Replicon or similar payroll software system in a large or mid-size company plus.
Experience with Quickbooks is desired
Knowledge of accounting/payroll systems.
Familiarity with ADP.
Familiarity with CONUS/OCONUS pay models
Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to follow up on complex and detailed work activities
Ability to troubleshoot problems
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
Will be a proactive, independent self-starter
High degree of sensitivity to payroll-related deadlines and commitment to ensure that all deadlines are met
Fast learner and the ability to pick up and work on multiple projects
