Marketing and Outreach Associate Job Opening in Chicago, Illinois - Basic Function:
With oversight and direction from the Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Outreach, the Marketing and Outreach (M&O) Associate will assist in the development of programs, protocols, materials, and relationships that facilitate the retention and recruitment of members, partners, and supporters for the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS). The M&O Associate will create and support marketing that promote the Society, its activities and those of its related constituents. In addition, the M&O Associate will also support and coordinate outreach engagement opportunities that ensure face-to-face meetings, dialogue and discussions between ISMS volunteer leaders and allied stakeholders throughout Illinois. This position will require some travel, as well as sharing of responsibilities (two M&O Associates cover the state of Illinois).
Specific Position Responsibilities:
Ability to learn, understand, and develop knowledge about ISMS programs and initiatives, and serve as a resource to internal and external contacts and physician members.
Research and identify possible membership engagement/growth opportunities within the Associate?s assigned territory.
These include, but are not limited to:
Raising awareness of the society and developing relationships with physicians, their staff, and additional key players in designated areas of the state.
Achieving daily/weekly call and email goals, and maintaining frequency of contact with both non-physician and physician leaders within hospitals, medical staffs, group practices, and their affiliated county medical societies.
Help meet overall objectives of the organization by way of membership recruitment, and marketing of the society.
Outlining, developing, and executing marketing plans that provide clear strategic direction and a tactical action plan designed to meet and exceed recruitment goals.
Traveling to designated areas of the state to participate in conferences, health fairs, medical staff meetings and other promotional events when appropriate. Some of the meetings/events may take place outside of normal business hours and require an overnight stay.
Working closely with outside organizations, such as local county societies, to increase local engagement. Must be able to evaluate and analyze the needs of the local medical community to establish the most useful and appropriate programs.
Evaluating and reporting on marketing initiatives upon completion, as well as maintaining an ongoing record of all marketing activities and their effectiveness; and submitting an activity report to Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Outreach on a monthly basis.
Aid in the development and advancement of digital marketing strategies of the organization.
Be an active team member by offering new ideas and information about marketing and recruitment strategies.
Coordinate the development and production of recruitment materials.
Attend four quarterly Board meetings, including the Annual Meeting and House of Delegates.
Additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Internal and External Contacts:
All divisions within the company. Works in close concert with communications, membership services and information services. Physicians, medical office managers, hospital administration, county medical society staff and other key stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
Education: BA or BS degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in marketing, communications or related account-service field; experience in the non-profit, association or healthcare/medical industries is a plus.
Other requirements:
Excellent organizational and project-management skills. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills; and a talent for crafting copy and campaigns.
Strong interpersonal skills in order to relate effectively to physicians, medical professionals, society staff and members of the local communities.
Positive and energetic attitude coupled with resilience, perseverance, and the ability to overcome objections.
Solid understanding of multi-channel marketing and brand development.
Adept critical-thinking skills and strong sense of self-motivation.
Must have a strong work ethic, as well as the ability to work both independently and as a team member.
Social media content-creation skills utilized in a setting.
Well-versed in Microsoft Office software; knowledge of design/editing software is a plus.
Working knowledge of databases and content management systems a plus.
Ability to research and organize information with strong attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Valid driver?s license is required.
