KIPP LA Schools is a non-profit organization that operates free, open enrollment, college-preparatory public charter schools. Our schools, which serve elementary and middle school students in East, South and Southeast Los Angeles, are part of the national KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) network of 200 schools in 20 states and DC. KIPP schools are dedicated to preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life.

KIPP LA will operate 15 schools by Fall 2017 and will serve approximately 6,500 students. KIPP LA is currently expanding; over the next five years, we will more than double the number of students we serve. By 2020, we will be operating 20 schools total.
Job Overview
Reporting to the Director of Human Capital, the Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
Serves as point of contact for staff questions.
Provides updated employee information such as new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, garnishments, changes, etc. to outsourced vendor that manages KIPP LA employee personnel records, payroll, background checks, teacher certification, and employee benefits.
Interfaces with staff across all KIPP LA campuses to collect required paperwork for personnel files.
Ensure that employees are enrolled into selected benefits and retirement plans in a prompt manner.
Interfaces with Human Capital employees to ensure that all new hire paperwork is completed accurately and timely.
Submits requests to the IT helpdesk for new employee email and systems access, phones, computers, etc.
Submits requests to the IT helpdesk to terminate departing employee email and systems access, and makes arrangements for IT to collect KIPP LA property such as laptops, cell phones, etc.
Processes employment verifications.
Assist and be present at all orientations and various on-boarding and open enrollment events as needed
Create new personnel files; ensure required documents are in place, filed & recorded accordingly
Assist in the coordination of exit interviews and follow up with the collection of pertinent equipment etc.
Respond to requests for data and deliver appropriate analysis on an ad hoc basis
Interfaces with staff across all KIPP LA to collect required paperwork on current staff for data reports and files
Assist with compliance and internal/external audits by collecting and compiling data
Complete HR audits as necessary to ensure accurate and complete information is retained
Maintain HR data integrity
Maintain confidential electronic and paper personnel files
Updates staff tracking mechanism and organizational charts.
Submits monthly internal reports.
Assists the Human Resources Team with other functions when needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Desired Characteristics
Bachelor?s degree required
1-3 years experience in human resources related functions
Experience in using and managing Google suite of products, and HRIS software
Mid to High proficiency knowledge in Google Drive
Flexibility with time, tasks, and schedule a must (some traveling required)
Unwavering integrity and ability to handle and maintain sensitive and confidential employment information with discretion
Experience in nonprofit or K-12 education setting
Results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done
Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills required to work with a broad group of stakeholders with different interests and needs
Ability to break down complex information into comprehensive parts, ask questions, synthesize and analyze
Strong judgment and decision-making skills
