School Based Health Center Program Director Job Opening in New Haven, Connecticut - Job Purpose:
Directs all aspects of the school based health center program, including: managing day-to-day operations, supervising and supporting SBHC staff, liaising with community partners, developing and monitoring program budget, and ensuring the provision of high quality services to children and families.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Administratively supervises all SBHC staff, including Office Managers, Behavioral Health Clinicians, and Nurse Assistants.
Recruits, hires, and trains new staff, students and volunteers.
Schedules and facilitates regular, effective staff meetings.
Acts as an administrative and operational resource to all SBHC personnel.
Actively supports all SBHC personnel by visiting each site routinely, communicating effectively, and ensuring that the SBHC program is well-represented at FHCHC.
Administers FHCHC policies and procedures, and works with the VP of Programs and SBHC Clinical Director to revise or develop new SBHC policies and procedures.
Acts as liaison to New Haven Board of Education and East Haven Board of Education.
Acts as liaison to school administrations, teachers, and other school staff. Creates and maintains good working relationships with the schools and community providers within and outside the school systems.
Conducts outreach to students, families, school staff and broader community regarding services provided and student health needs.
Ensures the maintenance of a safe and functional clinic environment, including facilities, equipment, and information technology.
Ensures that necessary certifications and licensure are obtained/maintained (e.g., DPH, TJC, NCQA).
Oversees program evaluation efforts to ensure high quality, care is delivered to children and youth.
Conducts advocacy with local legislators, school board officials, school district personnel, and other individuals/groups.
Submits reports required by funders in an accurate and timely fashion.
Develops and monitors program budget and adheres to program budget.
Seeks to maximize third party revenues through appropriate provider scheduling and other methods.
Participates in relevant meetings, trainings, and collaborative activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Master?s degree in public health, nursing, social work, health care administration, or other related healthcare field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
APRN or LCSW licensure preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a health related setting, and two (2) years functioning in a supervisory capacity.
Experience with medical or mental health billing preferred.
Experience working with school-based health centers or in a community health center strongly preferred.
Experience providing individual and/or group health education and health promotion with children, adolescents, and families preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
Comprehensive knowledge of monitoring grants, preparing budgets, and managing programs.
Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and writing skills.
Demonstrated competency in the development, implementation, and evaluation of health related programs.
Exceptional understanding of Microsoft Office, database management, population management software, electronic medical record, and Internet applications.
Local travel is an essential requirement of this position.
Ability to communicate effectively, and relate congenially to youth, families, school staff, clinic staff and community members, including funders.
Commitment to the principles of child and adolescent health, child development, and youth development.
Demonstrated cultural competence and background working with marginalized or under-served communities.
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
