What You Will Do:
The Business Analyst is responsible for eliciting, translating and documenting needs from customers and business owners into clear and complete specifications and high quality business requirements. This role is both business and technical in nature and is responsible for driving the translation of business needs/requirements into functional requirements as a deliverable to the development and systems test teams. The Business Analyst I is responsible for the day-to-day analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause resolution of business system and business process problems. The position requires some business analysis experience and strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. This position works under the direction of the Manager of IT Business Analysis and takes functional guidance from the Senior Business Analyst.
Develop new or modify existing business requirements and functional specifications for use by software developers.
Participate in meetings with end users and technical staff to understand business needs or existing rules, and develop requirements documentation.
Communicate and clarify user requirements with the development staff.
Act as the liaison between a product development team, the Software Quality Assurance team, and internal clients.
Participate in analysis sessions with other members of the development team to develop innovative approaches for expanding existing functionality to meet business requirements.
Present designs to team members and related groups to promote knowledge sharing and system understanding.
Conduct high level testing of software products prior to their submission to the QA team.
Assist other team members and related groups as needed.
Job Requirements:
Demonstrated experience writing formal requirements documentation.
Ability to develop functional specifications.
Ability to create process flow diagrams for current state, desired state and data mapping documents for system conversions.
Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures.
Customer focus mindset.
Knowledge of Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook, Visio or similar toolsets.
Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to function in a highly collaborative team environment while also working independently to meet objectives and deadlines.
Ability to effectively present to and interact with all levels of management.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment and handle multiple issues at one time.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree
3+ years? experience in a Business Analyst capacity
Business Analyst certification (CCBA, CBAP) a plus
Implementation experience with end user product solutions preferred
Ability to write basic/intermediate queries to update and/or extract data from Oracle or SQL Server database preferred
Knowledge of IT Service Management practices is preferred
IT background preferred
