Automotive OEM Technical Sales Representative Job Opening in Detroit, Michigan - Purpose:
OEM Technical Sales Representative is responsible for overall business activities associated with their specific OEM customers. The primary responsibility is top line growth for Doerken Corporation USA. Scope of customer responsibility may be revised to add additional customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:
Develop engineering, purchasing and key customer relationships at assigned accounts. Secure new business through these relationships.
Ensure the sales and engineering focus on new business development is maintained throughout the Doerken organization.
Work cooperatively with applications and product engineering, purchasing, operations, cost estimating, marketing, and administration group to win new business and advance Doerken as a strategic partner at assigned accounts.
Create and conduct sales presentations when required.
Provide market intelligence of competitors and assigned customer accounts.
Expand contact with OEM personnel to discover potential opportunities for new, additional applications of Doerken materials.
Report requests for samples to Technical Manager using sample request forms.
Arrange for shipment of sample parts to be coated from customers.
Attend industry technical meetings and seminars as appropriate.
Utilize Doerken CRM system to report all sales calls, meetings and contacts including results of meeting and next steps.
Report to Director of Technical Sales regularly on YTD performance to business plan. Implement actions within assigned customers to achieve business plan.

Apply the philosophy of Continuous Improvement within daily activity internally and with assigned customers.
Identify the group?s resource needs to meet the demands of the marketplace and communicate to Director of Technical Sales.
Travel as required to support the customer and to support/develop new opportunities.
Develop/monitor annual forecasts to meet the business plan goals and the requirement of the market.
Support activities to resolve customer issues.

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.
Education and or experience requirements:
Bachelor?s degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university, and three to five years related experience and or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical Knowledge:
Product Specific Nomenclature and Materials
Strong understanding of anti-corrosion coating processes, techniques and materials
Strong understanding of anti-corrosion coating research, development, and testing capabilities
Job Specific Skills:
Working proficiency of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Highly collaborative and team oriented individual
Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to accept responsibility and work independently
