Controller in Training Job Opening in Chicago, Illinois - Plan, coordinate and control accounting functions associated with one or more of the company?s manufacturing facilities, reporting to the Controller. Candidate must be comfortable working independently and be able to assist location management with explanations of financial concepts, company policies, and financial implications of proposed activities. Willing to relocate.
The essential duties and responsibilities are listed below. Other duties may be assigned.
Financial Statement preparation and reporting results to various levels within the organization.
Daily reconciliation of subledgers to General Ledger.
Analytical reporting of Key Measurables to Operational Partners.
Working knowledge of standard and average inventory costing.
Spreadsheet development and maintenance for analytical reporting.
Activity-based costing accuracy including calculation of labor and overhead rates.
Partner with Operations to understand operational activities for proactive and continuous improvement decision making.
Annual budget and monthly forecasting.
Support and reporting for annual physical inventory and cycle counts.
Support for audits, internal and external.
AR and AP supervision, resolve payment issues to suppliers and from customers.
Manage fixed assets requests.
Other duties as assigned.
Travel as needed.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should possess the following knowledge, characteristics, skills and/or abilities:
Knowledge of GAAP financial and accounting principles and internal control procedures.
Familiar with standard ERP reporting systems (DAX experience a plus).
Manufacturing and cost accounting experience preferable.
Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience preferable.
Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality.
Ability to interpret financial statements.
Excellent computer skills ? Excel spreadsheet development, Word and Outlook, etc.
Skill in analyzing continuous quality improvement needs and opportunities, and implementing responsive strategies and procedures.
Ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
Ability to work in fast paced office independently.
Ability to meet deadlines.
