Operations Financial Analyst Job Opening in Cleveland, Ohio - POSITION TITLE : Operations Financial Analyst
DEPARTMENT: Accounting and Finance Department
REPORTS TO: Plant Controller
POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:
The Operations Financial Analyst is a key role in supporting Charter Steel?s Manufacturing Plants. The position will provide financial reporting and analysis for the production plants to provide insight in achieving performance goals and will become part of the operations management team, working closely to problem solve operational financial issues. He/she will understand and recommend solutions for key operational initiatives as it relates to costing. The ideal candidate will be able to work with departments to create and implement tools, so the departments can plan and track how they are doing against budget. The successful analyst will take initiative to go out on the manufacturing floor to identify potential issues or to research and solve existing problems. The Operations Financial Analyst will take a leadership role in making recommendations on key improvement initiatives and cost savings to varying levels of management without having direct authority.
BASIC FUNCTION:
To provide operational finance support to the Production Plants.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor?s degree in accounting or finance
· 1-3 years accounting experience
· Knowledge, understanding and proven experience in cost accounting and cost drivers in a manufacturing environment
· Strong interpersonal skills in engaging with others and learning their area of the business
· Strong communication skills both written and verbal in working with and explaining financial data to employees at a variety of levels in the organization
· Ability to work in teams as a leader and as a member
· Experience in working with ERP packages
· Strong analytical skills to gather data from multiple sources and report findings
· Proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Products; Excel, Word, PowerPoint
·Ability to take initiative and work independently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·Financial analysis ability such as return on investment, IRR, NPV, economic profit, and payback analysis
·Formal team training with demonstrated success from past team experiences
·Ability to be a self starter and requiring little or no supervision
·Willingness and ability to reset priorities if business circumstances require
·Six Sigma and/or lean manufacturing experience
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
·Provide financial reporting and analysis to support capital spending, adherence to budgets, awareness of cost savings accomplishments, and cost savings opportunities
·Perform month-end closing for assigned plant
·Budget preparation, review, and analysis
·Develop cost estimates for potential new products
·Develop usable models to perform various business projections
·Provide recommendations related to findings from financial analyses and understanding production needs
·Prepare monthly and yearly financial forecasts
·Provide timely reporting of monthly results and activity along with analysis of performance variances and trends that can be understood by non-accountants (cost reviews)
·Understand the operation: Attend meetings, participate in plant continuous improvement initiatives, and be visible out on the floor in analyzing cost drivers.

·Reports to Plant Controller with a dotted line relationship to the Cost Accounting Manager
·Primary internal customers: Division Controller, Cost Accounting Manager, Operations Manager, Plant Managers, Shift Managers, and Supervisors
POSITION CHALLENGES:
·Influencing financial decisions without authority
· Accepting multiple tasks from various levels of management yet maintaining strict deadlines
· Exchanging data with other departments and being perceived as supportive rather than intrusive
