Direct report to the Purchasing Supervisor
Position Description
The Procurement Specialist supports internal customers to insure all products are properly quoted, ordered, delivered and available for shipment to our customers.
Essential Functions
Process Purchase Orders; determine shipping methods and assure buying guidelines conform with established policies and procedures
Prepare products quotes for corporate and inbound sales staff; discuss specifications and terms with management to assure the are sufficiently detailed and clear
Maintain organized vendor files to include records of product lines, agreements, etc.
Communicate with sales staff regarding product information changes including pricing, shipping information, etc.
Aid in interpreting trend reports and predicting future sales
React to any changes in customer demand
Communicate with vendors regarding shipments, pricing and other issues
Compose Pricing Letters and update computer system with related information
Work in coordination with Accounting to insure invoices are accurate

General knowledge of purchasing principles and practices
Ability to evaluate different control issues and make decisions based on A.M. Leonard?s policies and procedures

Ability to quickly learn new computer systems and programs
Strong data entry skills Ability to plan and organize workload to meet schedules and timelines
Requires a high degree of understanding of assigned products/vendors
Preferred Education & Experience
Previous purchasing/buying experience
Physical Demands
This position is in an office setting with most work being completed from a desk.
Occasional walking will be required throughout the distribution center.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday with an option after the initial training period for flexible scheduling of eight hours around a base of 7.30a - 5:30pm.
