Job Title: Staff Accountant
Department: Finance
JOB PURPOSE
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process for Distribution Construction. Assists in making improvements or accounting changes and provide ongoing support to the VP of Finance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
Assists in supporting the monthly financial close including preparation of journal entries and month end activities in the general ledger in order to perform the month end closing process timely and accurately.
Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts and follow up on reconciling items to ensure that accounting transactions comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Performs monthly bank account reconciliations.
Prepares monthly standard and reoccurring general ledger journal entries.
Maintains the company?s vehicle and equipment asset detail.
Performs the daily cash receipts application.
Assists in the preparation of the monthly financial statements, analysis, and reporting.
Assists in the annual audit process.
Participates in special projects as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Education Preferred: Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting
Experience Required: Experience with account reconciliations and month end closing procedures. Three to five years of relevant accounting experience

Skills Required : Strong accounting, analytical, and ?critical thinking? skills: detail orientated and ability to multitask. Must be an independent, self-starting individual, able to prioritize multiple tasks, work under strict deadlines and exhibit a team player attitude. Proficient in Microsoft Office; Advanced Excel is desirable. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Preferred: Knowledge with Sage/Timberline accounting software.
