Director of Communications and Membership Job Opening in Madison, Wisconsin - WNA?s Director of Communications and Membership is key in both big-picture and day-to-day activities of the association. Big-picture-wise, he/she assists the WNA Board of Directors and Executive Director in implementing the association's communications plan and the membership recruitment and retention strategies. On a day-to-day basis, he/she is responsible for communicating with prospective members, current members, and association leadership via email, phone, and social media regarding a wide range of topics.
No two days are the same at WNA! Most of the time you will be working in your own office, and other times you will attending and exhibiting at conferences throughout the state. You also have the option to work remotely from time to time.
Leading up this large section of the association is equally as rewarding as it is challenging. You are not completely on your own though! You?ll get plenty of assistance from our parent organization, the American Nurses Association, as well as all the other state nursing associations. They are your guides and resources into communicating effectively from the simple such as delivering sample social media graphics, to providing extensive assistance in developing marketing strategies. You can lean on them as much or as little as you need.
A nursing/healthcare background is not needed, but a respect and appreciation of nursing/healthcare is. While this role does have many set responsibilities (listed below), you have the flexibility and freedom to make this role your own. You are encouraged to implement new processes and initiatives to help advance the association and the overall lives of nurses in Wisconsin.

Responsibilities
1) Collaborate in the development and implementation of WNA?s communications plan:
Use of social media
Managing editor for WNA quarterly newsletter The Wisconsin Nurse
Production of bi-monthly WNA Monitor (electronic newsletter to membership)
Schedule member email updates
Responding to member inquiries via phone or email
2) Collaborate in the development and implementation of WNA?s membership recruitment and retention strategies.
Maintain current listing of WNA members (through ANA?s online reporting tools)
Report membership trends
Partner with ANA on membership recruitment and retention campaigns and/or projects
Implement member and non-member communication outreach projects
Assist in the development and production of member recruitment and retention materials for exhibiting and/or other event opportunities
Co-development of press releases
3) Actively support the membership and staff on the following programs and projects:
Mentorship program
Future Nursing Leader Award
Surviving Your First Year Workshop
WNA Nominations Committee
Wisconsin Environmental Health Nursing Coalition
WNA Awards Committee
WNA Grant Awards projects
4) Support WNA?s financial growth
Implement and monitor marketing plan for online advertising related to job recruitment and educational offerings
Assist with development and promotion of WNA products that can be purchased (t-shirts, books, advertising space, etc)
Monitor and report status and trends of the WNA membership
