Our main center is in Encinitas, and our annex is in Del Mar. We also teach in local schools! For more information about what we do, please go to: http: Qualifications: � Applicants must be native or fluent speakers of Simplified Mandarin from mainland China. ( is usually not something we teach.) � Applicants should have a U.S. Bachelor degree or its equivalent, ideally in a related field -- although the ability to relate to children is MUCH more important than the degree field. Knowledge, Experience, and Skills: � Native or fluent speaker of the foreign language, with a working knowledge of English � Training or experience working and being with young children � Prior teaching experience desired but not required � Ability to keep the attention of young children � Ability to establish quick rapport with children in a fun, upbeat, but educational environment � Interested in learning new ways of teaching foreign language to children � Willing to evaluate existing curriculum and contribute improvements � Able to work well with parents, including managing expectations and being reassuring � For class taught in area schools, able to make decisions independently, adapt to different situations, and interact smoothly with school staff and parents. � Able to organize time and activities to manage classes effectively � Able to keep information confidential � Able to commit to at least 12 months of employment, because of the time spent on training � Able to pass a fingerprint check and TB test Duties include: � Participating in a paid teacher-training program to learn our unique curriculum. Training includes class observations, workshops, practice classes, and co-teaching. � Participating in follow-up meetings, trainings and observations. � Teaching from 2 to 20 hours per week during the school year, which runs late August through early June, and during summer classes if desired (We want the best and happiest instructors! So the number of classes you teach each session can depend on your availability.) � Teaching at our locations in Encinitas and/or Carmel Valley and/or in area schools. � Committing to at least a year, because of the in-depth training process. � Actively participating in curriculum development, including some paid time to generate additional fun and creative activities and props to accompany our stories and activities. (We provide lesson plans, which over time you are welcome to adapt to your own teaching style. You will not need to make your own lessons.) � Representing Wonders to enrolled parents and school administrators (if teaching in local schools): be available and prepared for questions, understand who we are and what we do, stay on top of new developments and programs. � Be willing to do a limited amount of marketing and outreach to the community. (We offer incentives for successful referrals.)
