FLSA Status: Full-Time/ Non-Exempt (hourly), 40 hours/week M-F

Daystar seeks an experienced and dynamic Early Childhood Development Specialist to lead, develop, mentor, and supervise its group educational enrichment programs and individualized developmental services for children enrolled in Daystar?s award-winning programs for medically fragile children, ages six months to six years old.
ROLE:
Early Childhood Development Specialists are responsible for curriculum development, classroom management, team development and supervision, and the effective delivery of Daystar?s specialized developmental services, group early educational programs, and family support services. Early Childhood Development Specialists work in close collaboration with Daystar?s multi-disciplinary team comprised of therapists, nurses, and special education and other early intervention providers, to direct and deliver high quality, individualized and group educational programming for children receiving day-respite services at Daystar, and partner with families to help empower them with the skills and resources they need to help fulfill their child?s goals. Early Childhood Development Specialists ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations governing the agency?s operations, and are responsible for the daily supervision of teacher aides (TA?s), and volunteers assigned to each classroom. All programs are designed to support each child?s individual goals in a manner consistent with Daystar?s culture of inclusion, empowerment, and compassion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates are creative, inspiring, and knowledgeable mentors with excellent classroom management, team-building, and communication skills. Key skills include but are not limited to:
Proficiency in utilizing and developing data-driven systems to track program outcomes and deliverables.
Experienced in designing structured and inclusive group learning activities appropriate for children from birth to school-age, with differing strengths and skills.
Creates effective lesson plans for engaging multiple learning and communication styles and abilities.
Promotes quality services and supports a continuous learning environment.

Upon hire, all candidates are subject to fingerprinting and background checks, consistent with Daystar's licensing requirements through the NYS Office of Children and Family Services and NYS Office of People with Developmental Disabilities.
EDUCATION:
Master?s degree and New York State teaching certification in Special Education and/or Early Childhood Education preferred, or Master?s Degree and/or licensure in related field (SLP, OT, PT, Music Therapy), with a minimum of 12 credits in early childhood education, special education, or related field. Preferred candidates have a minimum of 2 years of management experience.
