Property Accountant Job Opening in Miami, Florida - Summary
As a Property Accountant, you will be responsible for focusing on the profitability of the business; ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and maintaining acceptable levels of internal control. Job responsibilities include maintaining records of assets and funds, preparing portfolios, drawing up budgets, setting up escrow accounts, and making the statement.
Essential Functions

Researches and answers Property Manager?s questions regarding tenant statements.
Reviews and approves work such as tenant credit memos, non-recurring tenant billings and questionable cash receipts for entry by Accounting Clerks.
Prepares tenant account analysis and reconciliations when residents dispute charges to their accounts.
Reviews account payable voucher submissions for legal, maintenance, and repair expenses.
Calculates and enters monthly contract item accruals such as janitorial, security and utility expenses to match expenses to period incurred, and review trial balance for reversing of same entries in next accounting period.
Prepares balance sheet tie-out to reconcile the general ledger and commercial management systems.
Develops Preview Statements and distributes to field to ensure following month?s recurring charges and past due charges are accurate.
Calculates and records appropriate depreciation and amortization of fixed assets, tenant improvements, and leasing commissions.
Protects organization?s value by keeping information confidential.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Also, other duties may be required as directed by your Manager.
Required Education and Experience
A minimum of (2) years of General Accounting experience preferred.
A minimum of (1) year of hospitality experience preferred.
Bachelor?s degree in accounting preferred.
Real estate experience preferred.
Ability to utilize work processing, spreadsheet and accounting software systems.
Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent Organization skills.
Basic accounting and mathematical skills required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and to bend or to stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.
