The following describes the ASSISTANT Accounting Manager Position.
Summary/Objective The primary role of the Assistant Accounting Manager is to develop a hands-on knowledge of the functions of Suisan?s accounting systems and to assist the Accounting Manager to establish financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information; managing staff.
Essential Functions The Assistant Accounting Manager shall work towards developing competency and proficiency in performing the following functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
Assist in achieving accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.
Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts; defining accounting policies and procedures.
Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
Assist in maintaining financial security by supporting established internal controls.
Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation; enforcing accounting regulations; recommending new procedures.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Assign and monitor clerical, administrative and secretarial responsibilities and tasks among office staff.
Allocate available resources to enable successful task performance.
Coordinate accounting staff activities to ensure maximum efficiency.
Evaluate and manage staff performance.
Coach, mentor and discipline accounting staff.
Establish and monitor procedures for record keeping.
Ensure security, integrity and confidentiality of data.
Design and implement office policies and procedures.
Oversee adherence to office policies and procedures.
Analyze and monitor internal processes.
Implement procedural and policy changes to improve operational efficiency.
Manage internal staff relations.
Maintain a safe and secure working environment
Organize workflow to meet deadlines.
Ability to work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures.
Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe work environment.
Follows all applicable Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and procedures that relate to sanitation, food safety and pest control.
Participate in daily Flex & Stretch.

Supervisory Responsibility This position requires development into a direct supervisory position to the Accounting Department.
Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Required to complete multiple priorities with time-sensitive deadlines.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility in a safe and satisfactory manner. Work under minimal supervision, apply logic and reasoning to solve complex problems, use sound judgement and discretion in performing work duties. Requires excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to listen, persuade, and influence skills in dealing with all levels of employees, clients and vendors.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear; some filing is required; however, at times this position will be required to stand; This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

Travel This position requires occasional travel to other Suisan offices/worksites.

Required Education and Experience Bachelors of Business Administration with emphasis in Finance or Accounting
Or Five to ten years of experience in financial planning, financial leadership and business development through accounting and corporate finance is required to hold a relevant position to an Accounting Manager.
Accounting managers should possess the necessary communication skills in both verbal and written aspects to properly entertain corporate inquiry relative to financial planning and record keeping from senior managers such as the Director of Finance, Account Managers and President
Preferred Education and Experience
3-5 years of Accounting experience.
2-5 years of demonstrated ability to evaluate and balance team and individual workloads through effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
1-3 years of Training experience.
Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
Be proficient in software applications:
MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer
Able to prepare spreadsheets and graphs for use in analyzing data
Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Strong leadership, management and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Organized with problem solving skills.
Self-motivated with ability to multi-task.
Work Clearance Authorized to work in the United States.
