Materials Manager Job Opening in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin - At Pro-Active Engineering, a "Can Do" attitude permeates the building and inspires our dynamic team to accomplish the near impossible. As we continue to grow, we are in search of other enthusiastic, hardworking, dependable personnel to join our team. Currently, we have an opening for a Materials Manager to oversee our Purchasing and Shipping/Receiving areas.
Summary
The Materials Manager plans, directs and controls activities related to the procurement of raw materials, components, tooling, equipment and coordinates activities related to the shipping and receiving of product as well as releasing of kits to the production floor.
Essential Functions
Supervise and purchase the procurement of raw materials, components, tooling, equipment, and purchased services.
Negotiate major purchase contracts/bonded material programs.
Establish and direct a cost reduction program aimed at lowering overall purchased goods costs.
Establish and maintain the vendor rating system to form the basis for selecting vendors for future needs.
Oversee order and billing discrepancies in coordination with accounting and vendors, and respond to inquiries on any material received.
Attend and participates in Management Review meetings.
Create and manage vendor RMAs when needed and follows through with them.
Analyze and recommend improvements for completed projects comparing estimated costs to actual costs and determines the reason for any discrepancies.
Oversee the Shipping and Receiving departments regarding incoming and outgoing shipments on a daily basis.
Manage the on time delivery of kits/materials to the production floor.
Supervise inventory accuracy/cycle counting processes.
Communicate with vendors to ensure that quotes will meet the necessary internal requirements.
Execute purchase orders to meet or reduce quoted cost and meet delivery requirements.
Confirm purchase orders to ensure accurate pricing, quantity, delivery date, etc.
Perform follow-ups regarding shortages, pricing lead times and delivery.
Evaluate suppliers based on time shipments, cost, and quality of product.
Issue NCPs as necessary ensuring rejected material is dispositioned appropriately.
Issue SCARs to suppliers to improve performance and delivery requirements.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor?s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Production Operations or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of procurement-related experience or demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the tasks.
Proven track record of driving cost reduction through purchasing of materials.
Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Education and Experience
Prior product
Five or more years of purchasing experience.
Familiar with shipping and receiving practices.
