Patient Safety Officer Job Opening in South Lake Tahoe, California - *** This position is 4- 10-hour shifts ***
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides leadership to support the Patient Safety program through collaboration with internal and external customers to further the culture of safety. Uses evidence-based patient safety methodology to support, develop and implement initiatives across the organization in conjunction with the Director of Patient Safety. Ensures compliance with mandatory reporting to local, state, federal and regulatory agencies as they relate to patient safety. Reviews event reporting system and analyzes entries to address patient safety concerns and identify trends actively collaborates with involved teams and/or departments. Interacts with internal and external customers across the healthcare organization regarding patient safety culture/concerns and observing for hazard risk reduction opportunities through active rounding and other strategies. Serves in a leadership role as an ambassador to patients and family members through active rounding and service recovery. Participates in state and federal regulatory surveys and survey preparation process. Assesses and documents compliance with Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals. Serves as a Patient Safety representative both within and external to the organization.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
Completion of an accredited Nursing program, Bachelor's Degree in healthcare

Current California RN license or ability to obtain prior to start date
Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date
Minimum Experience
Minimum of two years professional level, or greater, healthcare experience required
Excellent critical thinking, data analysis, team building and leadership change management skills preferred
Demonstrates evidence of essential leadership, communication, education, collaboration, and counseling skills
Effective organizational skills and demonstrates ability to maintain accurate notes and records
Previous experience with health IT systems and data reports preferred
Previous experience with mobilizing community resources, navigating patients through the healthcare continuum, and working with disparate populations preferred
Ability to identify and implement appropriate patient communication strategies and overcome accessability barriers, as required
