Tax Systems Manager Job Opening in Tulsa, Oklahoma - Primary Purpose of Job:
Assist in the maintenance and upgrade of existing tax systems and the design, development, training and implementation of new tax technology projects. Apply understanding of US tax standards and accounting principles to new solutions. Responsible for direct customer relations in defining needs and implementing solutions. Participate as an active team member of the Systems team.
List the major functions for this position starting with the most important and ending with the least important (maximum of 10 functions) .
Participate in Tax projects including supervision of the schedule and assisting with the implementation of the scope of work. ? 30%
Utilize tax knowledge to ensure proper adherence to US tax requirements
Maintain effective and timely communication with all appropriate personnel, including updates on progress and issues throughout project.
Coordinate and communicate roles and responsibilities to impacted team(s) based on the expertise and availability of the resources to best serve the needs of the project.
Provide direction to the impacted team(s) to ensure that projects are completed on task, on time and within budget.
Take responsibility for data mapping and knowledge of data flow and reporting implications
Contribute to the design, testing, and implementation of new systems and system rewrites affecting the Tax Department. ? 20%
Work with IT department to install new tax systems and create automated tax processes utilizing technology
Work with IT department to ensure we complete software upgrades regularly as recommended by the software manufactures
Review all existing tax systems periodically to ensure they are meeting the needs of the workgroups.
Identify opportunities to make improvements and revise existing systems as needed and manage the process to implement these changes.
Business & Technical Documentation: -15%
Create workflow process diagrams, document project requirements, and produce other functional documentation.
Collaborate with various departmental personnel to produce initial drafts, revising documentation per departmental and subject matter expert feedback.
Assist in the creation of Training Manuals and Guidelines for new software implementations.
Prepare and provide regular reporting as required.
Research and Development ? 15%
Research tools, methods and processes in support of the Tax data reporting environment.
Make recommendations to Management for future directions.
Stay current on new trends and products that provide future value to the company.
Provide Support and Problem Management for Tax system issues and/or projects. -10%
Perform special projects as directed by the Financial Systems Manager or Vice President Accounting / Controller, Assistant Controllers, and/or Directors. -10%

The required specifications (education, experience, and skills) are those that the employee must have to hold the position. Required education: Bachelor of Science degree with major in Accounting, Math, MIS, or Business.
AND
Must have successfully completed Intermediate Accounting I and II.
Desired education: Bachelor of Science degree with major in Accounting/MIS.
Required experience: Five years? experience in an accounting environment including detail accounting (both theory and application). Five years? experience with data files in multiple systems including ERP systems. Three years? experience working with tax.
Desired experience: Five years? tax experience.
Required skills: Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. The ability to accomplish tasks in a team environment. Strong organizational and writing skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work with little direction. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to meet deadlines and make decisions under pressure. Sensory Requirements:
Worker must be able to hear, see and speak to supervisors, co-workers, internal customers and vendors, and to identify and deal with such via the telephone or in person in order to accomplish job responsibilities. Worker must also be conscious of the office paging system.

This job requires that the worker be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time to perform work duties. Worker is required to hold items such as writing utensils. Worker is required to breathe (non-assisted) in order to accomplish job responsibilities via the telephone or make presentations.
