Chief Financial Officer Job Opening in Clinton Township, Michigan - Job Summary - Applies principles of accounting to produce, analyze and maintain journals, ledgers, budgets and financial statements for Church of Christ Care Center entities. Provides data to internal and external auditors and government entities. Assists with creation and implementation of policies and procedures within the department. Interacts with all levels of corporate personnel, vendors and internal and external auditors. Supervises Business Office staff. Under direction of CEO, provides leadership for Financial Management Accounting, Risk Management, and Insurance functions.
Accountability - Directly accountable to the Chief Executive Officer as an exempt employee.
Qualifications - Education and/or Experience 4-year college degree. BS/BA in Accounting/Business Analyst required, 4 to 6 years in related/similar industry. Healthcare and/or internal audit experience preferred. Experience in a skilled nursing facility and/or knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care and other payors is highly desired. Reasoning, multi-tasking and critical thinking ability is required. Must be able to evaluate and solve complex problems and issues. Must have the ability to quickly process issues and be able to clearly communicate thoughts.
Essential Job functions
Oversees billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and patient trust areas of the facility
Maintains and protects integrity of journals and ledgers for Church of Christ Care Center entities using in-house systems and following GAAP.
Prepares entries posted in ledgers, journals and other documents to verify accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.
Prepares HUD reports for grants & utility studies
Oversees Medicaid application process when necessary
Review and approve patients for admission based on financial criteria
all facility credit card accounts
Assists account receivable department with difficult/hard to collect billing
Interface with Admissions, Social Work, Nursing and Therapy to ensure collectability of account information
Reviews all facility contracts for financial considerations
Minimizes and approves all write-offs
Compiles various schedules, analyses and reports as directed.
Prepares monthly internal and external financial statements, and various operating reports.
Oversight of all facility bank accounts and loans
Prepares annual reporting and budget packages.
Compiles statistical data used for both internal and external reporting purposes.
Generates schedules as requested by external auditors in preparation for annual financial audit.
Works collaboratively with other departments.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Provides support to management via flexibility in accepting and seeking additional responsibilities regarding special projects, reporting and customer service.
Demonstrates ability to manage time and resources in order to meet deadlines.
Coordinates risk management and liability insurance coverage.
Assists in the investment policy development.
Supports fund raising efforts and accounting.
Assists in the review monthly financial statements, and related management reporting to effectively highlight critical issues, risks (including business and enterprise risks), trends, and opportunities.
Establishes policies and procedures that ensure adequacy of internal controls and effectiveness in providing financial services to the community.

Attention span ranging from 10 minutes to several days to perform complicated decision making process.
Good comprehension of multi?disciplinary concepts and theories.
Capable of remembering multiple messages, information, task assignments, and appointments up to 30 days or longer.
Environmental Condition
Occasionally exposed to microbial bacteria and other infectious agents inherent to nursing homes.
Occasional exposure to chemical compounds ? medications
Frequently exposed to stressful situation.
Occasionally required to work late hours or return to work during night hours.
