Job title : Accounting Staff (Specialist)
Full / Part Time : Full-Time
Work Location : Newberry, South Carolina.
Role Purpose:
The position is responsible for applying the guidelines of company policies, procedures, controls, and objectives with a wide variety of suppliers to obtain products that meet company specifications.
Major Responsibilities:

Maintains the general ledger and all related accounts with proper documentation and records
Reviews entries to the general and subsidiary ledgers
Responsible for monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger including preparation of journal entries.
Administers preparation of interim, year-end and comparative financial reports;
Assists the Accounting Manager in training and management of accounting staff.
Prepares monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts; verifies accuracy of bank statements
Responsible for review and preparation of payroll records and processing of payroll checks and reports by outside payroll service.
Maintains fixed asset records and control; determines depreciation terms/rates to apply to capitalized items.
Prepares sales tax returns for review by Accounting Manager
Assists the Accounting Manager in coordination of year-end audit and preparation of schedules and documents for independent auditors.
Maintain other accounts and performs other accounting duties as required or as requested.
Reconcile accounts and prepare monthly financial and various detailed analyses.
Maintain general ledger (GL), monthly balancing of GL accounts, monthly adjusting journal entries, reoccurring entries, monthly audit trial balance,
Prepare monthly financial statements and manage/maintain all related documentation related to GL.
Develop and implement policies and procedures with emphasis on internal controls.
Review and verify valid open amounts on balance sheet with operations.
Provides daily assistance to the Accounting Manager and functions as the Accounting Manager in their absence.

Background, Experience& Qualifications:
Ability to build and maintain rapport with all company departments and vendors
Strong problem-solving, strategic-thinking, and critical-analysis ability in resolving purchasing, inventory, and accounting issues
Must be able to prioritize projects and recognize deficiencies in paperwork.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Familiarity with accounting and spreadsheet applications is required.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Maintain strict confidentiality standard
Extremely organized and detailed oriented with excellent follow-up
Bachelor?s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred
