Senior GIS Analyst/Developer Job Opening in Superior, Wisconsin - What You Will Be Doing:
The Senior Research Informatics Analyst/Developer is responsible for executing development and maintenance initiatives of Natural Resources Engineering Company. This position is responsible for application and data requirement analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of technology solutions through individual contributions and by mentoring junior developers. Major responsibilities include design, extraction and preparation of data sets, customize Geocortex software for ESRI ArcGIS platform. Participation in the data governance
activities of NREC and of the enterprise GIS.
Activities Include:
Perform data source analysis and contribute to the design of optimal data structures to support defined and anticipated data needs
Develop standards, process flows and tools that promote and facilitate the mapping of data sources, documenting interfaces and data to support research projects/activities within the institute as well as with research partners.
Understand the data and technical environment, development practices and standards adopted within the team and propose on-going improvements and recommend acquisition of appropriate tools and technologies
Conduct code reviews, unit testing, peer reviews and partner with QA to document test criteria
Participate in defining data governance and best practices around meta-data to ensure an integrated definition of data for enterprise information, and to ensure the accuracy, validity, reusability and consistent definitions for common reference data
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
5+ years of experience in software development and building data integration or data warehousing solutions for data analytics applications
Proficiency in SQL, Geocortex, and ESRI products
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to identify solutions to complex problems and business processes using tools and technologies to improve efficiency through automation, re-use, design patterns, and best practices
Advanced programming skills in Geocortex, Informatica, Python or similar data management tools are essential
Expert knowledge on Data modeling, design and performance tuning is required
Experience in using GIS software for geo-processing to integrate data from multiple sources is preferred
Ability to collaborate and communicate with clients on data management, analysis practices, and results
