Accounts Receivable Specialist Job Opening in Baltimore, Maryland - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned. Initiate outbound collection calls & emails; mail out documentation (including credit memos, vouchers, invoices, statements, and collection letters). Foster relationships with customers to facilitate future communication. Advise customers of overdue amounts and arrange payment plans. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers by telephone, email and mail to investigate complaints, verify accuracy of charges, and/or to correct errors in accounts. Research and resolve payment discrepancies and make adjustments to accounts as needed through use of problem-solving and follow up skills. Arrange additional collections efforts with outside collections agencies as appropriate. Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policies and accepted accounting practices. Review customer credit applications and follow up with listed trade references to verify customer eligibility. Support month end closing processes. Sort and distribute incoming mail. Assist with Accounts Payable, billing and apply customer payments to invoices as needed.
Job Responsibilities
As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will perform a variety of duties related to invoicing, accounts receivable, collections and customer service.
Your specific duties as an Accounts Receivable Specialist will include:
Make daily collection calls to customers.
Conduct account research and analysis
Prepare and maintain various financial and accounting reports
Maintain accurate aging reports
Working in Excel, Word and proprietary ERP software system
Identify and execute the necessary process adjustments
Interact with customers to resolve outstanding issues.
Able to communicate & follow up effectively with sales department regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
Send statements to outstanding customers
Rotating on call responsibilities and filing with staff
Requirements
As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you must be a friendly and trustworthy person with a solid background in collections. You must have superior multitasking and prioritization skills as well as strong problem-solving abilities. It is also vital that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to listen to and assist customers in an empathetic yet professional manner.
Specific qualifications for the Accounts Receivable Specialist role include:
A minimum of 2-3 years Account Receivable and Collection experience

Salary: $15.00 to $16.00 /hour
Required education:
High school or equivalent
