Staff Accountant Job Opening in Louisville, Kentucky - Extell Financial Services, Inc. Summary of Responsibilities:
Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions:
Compiles financial information and prepares journal entries to produce accrual and cash based monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital. Prepares balance sheet, cash flows, trial balance, profit and loss statement and other reports to summarize & interpret current and projected company financial position for all internal and external clients.
Performs cash management duties, including wire transfers/bank check requests, deposit review, bank draws, bank reconciliation, cash projections, monitoring cash and accounts receivable balances
Reviews accounts payable, including invoices, contracts and vouchers for accuracy; Ensures timely payments of real estate taxes, mortgages, utilities, etc.
Monitors compliance with lender/investor reporting as well as overall company procedures
Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of balances on financial statements; how costs are applied affecting such balances as well as improving the organization's accounting operations.
Provides support for year-end tax & audit activities with third party preparer
Coordinates budget process with management staff
Reviews monthly tenant billings and rent rolls to ensure accuracy and timeliness
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university
Minimum two years? related experience preparing financial statements, including balance sheet and trial balance preparation, and preparing and entering adjusting journal entries
Minimum two years? experience with accounts payable/accounts receivable process
Experienced in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Education and Experience Preferences:
CPA certification preferred.
2-3 years? auditing experience in public accounting
1-2 years? experience in construction/real estate development and/or property management accounting.
Timberline (or similar GL accounting system software) experience preferred.
