Healthcare Billing & Collection Specialist Job Opening in Secaucus, New jersey - Riverside Medical Group is a multispecialty practice with a long history of success and stability. We are currently in search for a role of Medical Billing & Collection Specialist. This individual will play a vital role in revenue cycle management.
The primary responsibility of this role will be to assist the Revenue Cycle Department reach or exceed Revenue Cycle goals such as maintaining low days in A/R, reducing denials and processing appeals. Work with denial and appeal team to identify denial trends, with coding teams to file appeals and overturn denials and with senior leadership to develop educational opportunities across locations to improve the revenue cycle process.
Responsibilities also include contacting insurance companies, patients and other outside sources to secure payments from third party payers and to maintain a comprehensive follow up log to ensure claims adjudication and to facilitate daily cash collection and meet departmental goals.
Duties include:
Keep accurate notes account records
Manage phone calls and respond to patients promptly concerning billing questions
Maintain accurate insurance information within software program
Review patient account receivables and contact patients regarding outstanding balances, setting up payment plans, and collecting payments
Provide monthly reviews and recommendations for accounts going into collections
Review insurance account receivables and contact insurances regarding accounts providing necessary paperwork and information
Send out insurance claims and patient statements
Ensure timely filing for all claims
Review insurance denials and actively work the accounts for payment
Enter insurance information, maintaining accurate insurance profiles, payor IDs, etc.
Develop tracking system for follow up on accounts and tasks
Assist with cash posting and other billing duties as needed
Utilize payor websites to look up eligibility and plan details
Other duties as assigned
Must understand and follow HIPAA guidelines
The ideal candidate: - Has 1+ years' experience working as a medical biller/collector - Knowledge of insurance coverages - Experience answering telephone - Customer service experience - Exceptional interpersonal skills - Experience with billing and collection - Dependable
Required experience:
Healthcare Billing: 1 year
Healthcare Collection: 1 years
Requires computer literacy, interaction and keying skills; full competency in MS Office.
Ability to interpret and discuss insurance explanations of benefits and payments
Knowledge of basic healthcare billing/collection practices, third-party payer reimbursement policies and HIPAA
Understanding of UB-04, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG, CPT and HCPC is necessary.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Ability to research and attention to detail in the completion of state mandated forms.
