Senior Financial Accountant - Inventory Job Opening in Little Rock, Arkansas - Position: Senior Financial Accountant
Position primarily maintains, monitors and controls the accounting and reporting of inventory, an asset exceeding $1 billion. Position requires analytical thinking and review of financial records and transactional detail to prepare financial reports for internal and external distribution.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Monitoring daily inventory balances, including both imported and domestic merchandise, to ensure that expected costs have posted properly
Reconciling monthly and quarterly account balances to the general ledger from multiple internally developed and prepackaged software subledger systems
Preparing journal entries and performing financial account variance analyses, including monitoring charges for compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal company accounting policies
Engaging with import traffic, customs compliance, merchandise receiving, product development, information technology and legal counsel to support the import operations of the company
Preparing various design/royalty reporting for inventory suppliers based upon established procedures and contractual agreements
Preparing management reporting packages, including inventory aging and gross margin analyses
Preparing ad hoc financial analyses for use by multiple levels of management, including gathering information and communicating with other departments
Performing, monitoring and documenting key internal controls for compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
Providing supporting information to both internal and external auditors for specified accounts
Preparing and providing information to the financial reporting department for preparation of Quarterly and Annual Reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission
Assisting in research and application of technical accounting as requested
Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required with an attention to detail to collect, monitor, and analyze data
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to report to all levels of management
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel
Fast learner and excellent computer skills to complete daily tasks on internally developed mainframe systems
Experience:
College Degree in Accounting
Eligible to sit for CPA Exam with 150 hours or CPA preferred
Minimum of 2 years? experience required for applicants
