About the Position: Reporting to the Executive Director of Military Programs, the Assistant Director of Military Instructional Programs manages instructional affairs for Pierce College?s military programs located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Pierce County, Washington. The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the instructional programs identified by the military programs Executive Director. Primary responsibilities include providing leadership, supervision and guidance to faculty; curriculum and program development and evaluation; evaluation and revision of course outlines and inclusion of outcomes assessment tools; promote development of innovative teaching methodologies; coordinate military program annual instructional schedule; budget planning and implementation; outreach; collaboration with District instructional administrators, divisions and departments and other related instructional issues. About Military Programs: The Pierce College educational programs at Joint Base Lewis-McChord are specifically designed to serve the needs of active-duty military personnel, their family members, VA benefit recipients, and civilians in the community. Shorter terms, arranged courses, continuous entry courses, and online courses meet specific needs of non-traditional students. Academic and programs are offered at both sites on an eight-week schedule which lead to both certificates and associate degrees. The military program sites serve students worldwide with a ratio of 70% online to 30% grounded. Military Programs currently employs one full-time faculty member and approximately 80 part-time faculty each quarter. Required Qualifications: ? Master?s degree in educational leadership, organizational development, management, or closely related field (such as any other instructional discipline). ? Significant experience managing or coordinating an instructional program(s) in a college environment. ? Minimum of three years successful college teaching experience. ? Experience developing and monitoring budgets. ? Supervisory experience and effective supervisory skills to include coaching and mentoring to support employees in achieving the mission of Military Programs, the District, and their individual professional goals. ? Experience working in a multicultural environment. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: ? Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. ? Demonstrated ability to provide vision, academic direction, and administrative leadership. ? Strong, positive interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively, demonstrate trust and sensitivity to and mutual respect for others. ? Demonstrated ability to effectively meet the needs of diverse customers, making excellent customer service a high priority; uses customer feedback to improve quality of services and processes. ? Proficiency in MS Office, to include Word, Excel and database software, such as MS Access. Desired Qualifications: ? Five or more years of mid-management experience or above. ? Military and/or military education program experience. Terms of Employment: This is a full-time, 12 month per year, administrative exempt position. Position requires occasional travel, Saturday and evening work as well as travel between campuses/sites. Position is open until filled and starting date is negotiable. Salary is $66,500 annually. A competitive benefits package is included.
