Staff Accountant Job Opening in Ipswich, Massachusetts - We are searching for an experienced Accountant, who will report directly to the Controller, to join the finance team in our Ipswich, MA headquarters. This is a salaried, exempt, full time position. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills, analytical experience and the ability to communicate effectively. This position is well-suited for an individual who is flexible in their day-to-day job activities and has the ability to work additional hours if required.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for monthly and quarterly close activities including preparing journal entries, expense accruals and account reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements
Customer and vendor rebate accounting
Cross train in all areas of the department including AP, Invoicing and Credit
Create and implement efficiencies across the Accounting Department
Help establish, document and maintain policies and procedures and internal controls.
Utilize business analysis tools to retrieve and analyze data
Sales/Use tax reporting and coordination of corporate income tax filings
Assist in the preparation of annual budget, periodic forecasts and quarterly commissions.
Serve as a resource to outside departments
Support the Controller with various analysis and ad hoc projects

Minimum 3+ years of experience within the general accounting function.
Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting
Proven analytical, problem-solving and decision- making capabilities
Strong MS Excel skills required
Experience operating within an ERP environment
Attention to detail is critical in the successful performance of the position responsibilities assigned
Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
