The Software Engineer is assigned to a specific software solution and is responsible for writing code to meet user interface specifications. Responsibilities include: defining user needs, providing input to functional design, testing, and troubleshooting. A Strong interest integrating emerging technologies and devices into application and solutions is required. The Software Engineer has limited travel with occasional visits to client sites to better understand requirements, install, and solution troubleshooting
The developer will be designing, implementing, and testing APIs in the Ruby on Rails framework (ActiveRecord), using Swagger for API documentation and unit test scaffolding. We use a MySQL database for data storage and at times we write SQL directly in the Rails API server for database interaction when the use case requires it. We use scrum methodology and so this developer would collaborate with below team members daily. All team members physically sit by each other every day, facilitating ease of communication and close collaboration.
- 3 full time software engineers that develop both on the client/application tier and the API tier
- 1 full-time contractor with client side Ruby on Rails experience that develops and mentors our engineers primarily on the client/application tier
- 1 software architect who primarily works with the environment architecture, continuous integration and deployment process, and database architecture
- rest of team: 1 project manager, 4 testers, 1 designer, and 1 strategist
