RKW North America in Franklin, Kentucky, has been a part of the RKW Group since the end of 2010. The current location was built in 2000 for the manufacture of films for lamination and technical applications. From its establishment, the site in Franklin focused its attention on the development of technical films that are particularly suited to flexible packaging in both food and non-food categories. In 2006, the plant's capacity was expanded through the addition of multi-layer extrusion technology to complement the product range. In 2012, RKW further increased its presence on the North American market by installing new capacity for the production of films for the hygiene disposables market.
Job Goal:
Under the supervision of the Lab Coordinator, the Lab Technician, will provide technical input in the area of laboratory practices, and performs special tests ensuring quality standards are met. Provides support to the organization in auditing, testing, data gathering, statistical analysis, and complaints.
Shift: Weekend Nights - Fri, Sat, Sun: 6pm-6am. There is a 15% shift premium associated with this shift.
Main Duties:
Work as directed by the Lab Coordinator for sampling and analysis of film products
Carries out laboratory analysis efficiently, effectively, and accurately as per applied approved test methods, completing all assigned analyses on time and to schedule
Liaises with the production personnel to ensure effective application and interpretation of laboratory data
Works safely and effectively ensuring compliance with all safety, quality and environmental policies, procedures and practices
Assures the verification of the lab equipment in compliance with ISO standards
Logs analysis and other relevant data on the laboratory?s data system, accurately and on-time, to be used by process staff and other personnel
Updates the Lab Coordinator of variation from specification or normal operational parameters which might affect technical performance and quality
Acts as a resource to assist in the training of new hires and current employees in best practices and quality compliance
Completes and carries out an effective communication and handover exchange with different departments in the work area
Provides training on the document control system and extended areas
Interpret complex data and correlate results between experimental findings
Provide support to new product and process introductions or technology developments
Design and conduct experiments that determine root causes of failures
Employees must adhere to and support all policies and procedures as they relate to Food Safety.
Employees have a role in supporting, monitoring, and improving the Food Safety Management System.

Strong administrative and organizational skills
Proficient computer and MS Office skills (incl. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) required
Working knowledge of ISO 9001
Must be able to perform all duties in a safe and effective manner
