Medical Assistant Job Opening in Helena, Montana - We are looking to add a Medical Assistant to our Helena Clinic. We are an addiction medicine treatment facility. We have multiple clinics in the states of Washington, Montana, Maryland, Idaho, Alaska
Medical
Collection of vitals from each patient prior to patient meeting w/physician
Documenting medical information in patient chart
Educates new patients to procedures/policies, etc.
Manage urine collection from patient for drug screens
Perform blood draws
Follow protocol for shipping of urine/blood specimens when needed
Provide observation for same-sex patient providing urine specimen as directed by physician and document in patient electronic health record
Undergo training as requested by supervisor
Per physician directive: call in prescription to local pharmacy for patient and documents this in patient file
Utilize electronic health record system to document patient information as needed
Brings any concerns regarding patient care to the medical director
Immediately notifies supervisor if unable to perform job duties
Keeping area clean and stocked with necessary supplies
Notify supervisor of need of supplies
Maintains HIPAA compliance at all times and verbally demonstrates understanding of HIPAA ? undergo annual training in this area
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Administrative Responsibilities
Provides for an efficient patient flow system, receiving patient and routing them to medical staff
Answering and tracking telephone calls and routing messages to appropriate staff and documenting information in patient file as needed
Scheduling patients for follow-up visits
Preparing new patient files, reviewing admission forms, coordinating referrals with patient files
Scanning/uploading documents to patient file and shredding of originals once validated in file
Interpret incoming fax documents ? routing to appropriate staff or following through with request on document ? seeking guidance from when unsure of purpose of document
Ongoing use of electronic health record system to input patient data, review data
Maintain inventory of office supplies, developing list of items needed and providing this to appropriate staff or ordering of supplies
Maintaining adequate clinic forms ? using current forms and having enough available
Collection of patient fees PRIOR to patient receiving services
Tracking and providing patient receipts for all payments collected
Accounting for and replenishing cash per agency procedure
Maintain cleanliness of office, physician rooms, restrooms, wait areas, etc., throughout day ? making sure building is left clean at the end of each week
Educating patient regarding policy and procedure for collection of urine specimen
Notify supervisor immediately if unable to perform job duties or if concerns/questions arise
Receive and provide cross training for co-employees
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED
Maintain MA licensing through the state/agency (as applicable per state)
Typing at least 50 WPM
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their families and to organize schedules and files are essential
A knowledge of substance use disorders and its effects on individuals, families, and communities
Understand and adhere to federal confidentiality regulations
Conduct oneself ethically and professionally at all times; adhering to agency Code of Ethics
Be of the conviction that a substance use disorder is a treatable illness and constitutes a public health problem.
Sign a permanent oath of confidentiality covering patient-related information
Able to pass a criminal background check
