Billing Specialist Job Responsibilities:
Supports the revenue cycle by reviewing and submitting claims, auditing, making deposits, posting payments and following up on Accounts Receivable.
Billing Specialist Job Duties:
Scrutinizing the status of charges to ensure all are billed and collected appropriately and timely.
This position will assist in the planning and completion of audits.
Adheres to compliance and regulatory rules as mandated by CMS, state and federal regulations, payer contracts and established department policies and procedures.
Responsible for submission of all electronic claims through PC-based processing system. Submits paper claims to non-electronic carriers with required documentation.
Posting payments using provided EOB from insurance.
Research, analyses and follow's up on all payer edits / rejections ensuring accurate and timely claim submission.
Responsible for correcting any errors made by other department to ensure claims are submitted correctly.
Preparing deposits.
Billing Specialist Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year experience in medical claim processing and/or insurance billing worker?s compensation or physician.
One year experience in a computerized account receivable system required. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products, internet and automated billing systems is preferred.
Detailed knowledge of ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT codes, and HCFA 1500 claim forms and an understanding of electronic processing of 837 and 835 is preferred.

Computer skills for effective management reporting including billing, payroll, etc.
