Hiring Immediately- Company is a leader in thermal control and life support in extreme environments. With more experience in designing human-rated space craft than ANY small company. Expertise runs from underwater to lower earth orbit and beyond!! Basically, we are seeking a Static Engineer with 3-10 yrs. experience in static, dynamic, shock and/or vibro acoustic and other analyses. Exp. taking design from CAD to FEM to coherent analysis results and documentation. Exp. in NASTRAN/PATRAN is REQUIRED. Experience in ANSYS, PRO-E and/or Solidworks a plus. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: * Work closely with the customer, helping to develop requirements, FEA approaches, and loads. * Perform analysis of detailed structures and tubing. Receive CAD models, convert to PATRAN models and perform static, shock, fluid pressure stress, CTE loads, Fatigue and dynamic analyses. * Provide recommendations for design changes * Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems * Represent organization to both internal and external customers on specific projects/teams especially in results of analyses. * Make design recommendations and set baselines based on trade studies, analyses, and design reviews * Prepare periodic reports, presentations, and records on project activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies * Provide technical advice and problem solving assistance to junior engineers KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: * Knowledge and experience on aerospace projects in, Static and Dynamic Analysis * Knowledge of engineering principles and procedures (Random, buckling, shock, stress.) * Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting for proposals * Knowledge and proficiency in NASTRAN, and PATRAN (ANSYS a plus) * Skill in applying engineering principles and procedures to complex and sometimes ill-defined problems * Skill in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) * Ability to break down large engineering tasks into discrete tasks for less senior engineering personnel * Ability to rely on experience and use sound judgment to plan and accomplish work * Ability to quickly evaluate Junior Engineer's designs and concepts and provide expert advice that will enhance the resulting designs * Ability to effectively communicate in both written and spoken form. Proven ability to author papers, technical memos or other technical communication (not Powerpoint) * Ability to serve as task leader for technical tasks. * Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; have creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness; have discriminating judgment, tact and sense of humor BOTTOM LINE (1) Bachelor's Degree. (2) About 4 years of experience static, dynamic, shock and/or vibro-acoustic and other analyses. (3) Experience in NASTRAN/PATRAN. (4) Experience with complex assemblies (spacecraft radiators, structures, heat exchangers, etc.) (5) Experience with Abaqus is a plus. (6) Experience in ANSYS, Pro-E and/or Solidworks is a plus.
