About the Opportunity
The Software Engineer will be a critical member of the Software Development team and will be responsible for the technical design, development, implementation and support of B2B eCommerce sites, integration platforms and business applications. They will work closely with the Software Development Manager, Technical Architect, business analysts and product owners to deliver industry leading software applications.
Not simply a coder, a successful candidate will be able to wear multiple hats throughout the week. They will be a strong ?doer? that is capable of contributing new ideas, improvements, input to architecture, design and processes as well. Previous knowledge of any specific programming language is less important than the ability to learn quickly and adapt.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute as lead developer on B2B eCommerce and integration projects
Use Lean problem-solving tools to analyze opportunities, conduct root cause analysis, identify options and recommend solutions.
Integrate our business systems with industry and customer systems:
Develop and maintain Gemline?s API
Develop and maintain custom integrations with industry platforms
Work with external partners in the design and development of software solutions
Maintain a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly regarding accessibility, usability, and emerging technologies; keep team members informed as appropriate, with a view to incorporating these in future projects.
Participate in Continuous Improvement activities, including Gemline?s Idea Generation System
Other Duties as assigned
:
BS in Computer Science
3+ years developing software applications
Proficient in varied development languages, including , Java, PHP & Responsive Web Frameworks
Significant experience with relational databases
Experience with Lean/Agile software development practices
Relevant experience with web services and REST
Ability to diagnose problems & provide viable solutions.
A record of successful delivery of software applications.
Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus
Ability to utilize Lean / Continuous Improvement concepts and philosophies on a regular basis
Willingness to learn new technologies and skills
Linux and AWS experience a plus
