Software Engineer Job Opening in Arlington, Virginia - BioInformatics, LLC seeks an experienced full stack web developer who wants to join a growing team and can bring their expertise to bear to help build a portal into the world?s scientific community. The Science Advisory Board?s () growing network of scientists in the life science and pharmaceutical industries need an ever improving website. Ideal candidate should be self-motivated, with the ability to code independently and collaborate on design and testing. Experience building and maintaining sites at web server, database and front & back end levels is required.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Implementation, testing and maintenance of web applications
Collaborating with team members to design and launch new features
Converting graphic designs to visual web elements
Scripting for data migration and transformation
Performing website and database optimization to maintain performance
Designing and coding utility tools for website and database functions
Implementation of security and data protection procedures
Creating and maintaining technical documentation
Maintaining code integrity by enforcing organizational standards
Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational trainings; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
Qualifications:
Expertise in fundamental web technologies (Ex: HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
High proficiency in server-side scripting languages (Ex: PHP, Python, Ruby, etc.)
Proficiency using advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks (Ex: JQuery, AngularJS, etc.)
Proficiency with querying and administration of databases (Ex: MySQL, Oracle, PostrgreSQL, etc.)
Proficiency with coding for RESTful services
Proficiency with web server technologies (Ex: Apache, NGINX, etc)
Experience with web hosting management (Ex: cPanel, AWS, etc.)
Experience with responsive design practices
Experience with code versioning tools (Ex: Git, SVN, etc.)
Self-motivated, eager to learn, and team-oriented
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
A scientific background is a plus, but not required
Strong communication and social skills
Bachelor?s Degree required
Ability to work in the US
