Inventory Control Associate Job Opening in North Smithfield, Rhode island - The Inventory Control Associate (ICA) is part of the company?s inventory control team and is primarily responsible for the physical verification of inventory via cycle counts, location audits, physical inventories and other similar activities. They will also be responsible for receiving related responsibilities. They will also enter data on parts held by the Company and those shipped to other organizations into relevant databases. They may participate in company meetings and provide recommendations on how to make inventory control responsibilities more efficient. The ICA may also help with training and educating new and existing Team members to company inventory policies and procedures.
In addition, the ICA is responsible for performing routine movement of material within a warehouse or specialized environment (e.g. static controlled environment). Duties may include verifying accuracy of shipments against documented requirements; updating inventory management systems with shipment details; placing items into designated storage locations; inventory management including rotating inventory, re-packaging and performing cycle counts; picking and packing orders; kitting and order consolidation and; packaging and preparing material for shipment. Quality is the number one criteria for Banneker?s operation and all actions must be accomplished in the most quality conscious manner while also operating in the most safe and efficient manner possible. The incumbent must always be cognizant for damaged product, quantity discrepancies or any other noticeable deficiencies. What we expect from our Inventory Control Associate:
Count and track inventory to ensure accuracy for company and customer-owned inventory, in accordance with inventory procedures.
Perform cycle counts, location audits, physical inventories and other counting duties based on count schedules.
Coordinate, implement, and perform audits for inventory accuracy, problem resolution, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
Perform and process inventory transfers and update records accordingly.
Physically and systemically receiving shipments into the company?s system(s).
Occasionally may serve as a point of contact for the customer?s inventory control personnel, assisting with their audits.
Assist with identifying and resolving inventory errors and discrepancy issues.
Pull inventory materials and provide research for special requests.
Assist with generating reports and other related documents, including updating metrics and other data as requested.
Follow-up with the customer and Quality/Supply Chain departments on quarantined materials (NC/NR, Expired, Scrap, Rework, etc.) to ensure transactions are accurately processed. Ensure that quarantined materials are segregated physically and transacted in system accordingly.
Provide input to management to assist with updating and revising inventory control policies and procedures. Participate in inventory control process improvement initiatives as requested.
May participate in internal meetings and providing status updates accordingly.
EHS & Security : Maintains safe and clean work environment using 7s principles and by keeping workstations, aisles, storage locations and other warehouse areas neat and organized at all times. May be assigned facilities duties as needed (e.g. sweep, dust, mop, etc.). Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards. Comply with health and safety standards for the warehouse and with all associated company, local, state, and federal guidelines. Wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Participate in company EHS program as required.
Other : Adhere to shipping and receiving policies and procedures, and maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and/or standards and complete appropriate documentation as required. Contributes to maintaining compliance to Quality Management System certifications and participates in projects and initiatives focused on driving Continual Improvement throughout the organization (i.e. Kaizen events).
Assists with special projects from time to time as required and performs other job-related duties as assigned.
What Type of Background & Experience Should You Have
High School graduate or GED equivalent
Minimum of two years of experience in inventory control or related field in a warehouse, manufacturing or production environment.
Very high attention to detail with excellent math skills, mathematical conversions, ability to identify individual items and sub-items.
Working knowledge of inventory control practices; working knowledge of tools, supplies, equipment used in the third-party logistics industry.
Working knowledge of computer terminal operation, equipment operating principals and procedures and considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions relating to equipment operation.
Experience with MS Office (with at least intermediate proficiency in MS Excel); warehouse/inventory management and/or ERP systems.
Ability to organize workload and records, to track inventory regularly and consistency to minimize discrepancy.
Handle multiple tasks and communicate status in a timely manner.
Understanding of basic inventory and accounting practices (e.g. First in First out, Lot control, Expiration Dates)
Experience with computerized RF scanning equipment is required.
Experience in ISO, AS9100 or similar quality management systems environment preferred.
Able to work a flexible work schedule as needed including planned and unplanned schedules, which may include weekends.
US Citizenship is required; applicants must have the ability to gain a Government Security Clearance.
