Accounting Analyst Job Opening in Detroit, Michigan - Growing commercial services company seeking experienced Accounting Analyst for it's Finance Department. The Analyst is expected to manage and provide support for SEEL?s forecasting and budgeting for specific programs for a variety of utility clients. This position is based out of our Detroit Office. In this role, the position will report to the Accounting Manager, with dotted line reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer. The candidate will have a significant impact on the corporate financial reporting. Under general direction, the Financial Analyst will perform a variety of complex technical and support services involving pricing modeling, business unit budget maintenance, and other related duties. Other responsibilities include creating, analyzing, and maintaining financial information for the organization.
DUTIES:
Participate on committees to provide analysis, financial information and input and other business advisory services to inform and guide the organization.
Create and develop analyses to ensure business units are operating within program budgets.
Develop modeling for pricing new business proposals, including analyzing projects costs and overall profitability.
Research and compile statistics and data for projects; prepare reports including statistical summaries and comparisons; assist in monitoring revenue and expenditures for projects Responsible for business unit sales reporting, forecasting, and budget tracking.
Create and maintain project set up and program planning and reporting in financial software.
Prepare reports for internal and external audiences regarding financial information.
Evaluate project performance to help develop and update company financial goals and objectives. Develop and give presentations to assist in communicating program deliverables.
Draft and deliver client reports and communication on a regular basis.
Advise internal teams on any relevant concerns and identify trends based upon data and KPIs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Superior knowledge of financial modeling
Knowledge of project analysis and cost structures.
Expert knowledge of enterprise accounting software
Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and be self-directed.
Ability to work in cross-functional and matrix-managed teams to support management level finance goals.
Rely on pre-established guidelines, processes and/or procedures to perform job functions.
Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting; with related 3 ? 5 years work experience
MBA or CPA Certification preferred, and; or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience providing the knowledge, abilities, and skills cited above
Experience proactively addressing and managing financial reporting
Experience with working with Executive and Senior Management
Active listening skills in order to gather clear and complete information, and disseminate to others through excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication.
Team player with the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while prioritizing work.
Ability to quickly adapt to changing activities.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Expert level in MS Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and creating ad hoc reports.
Experience working with commercial and industrial customers and/or utility conservation organizations.
