Cost Accountant Job Opening in Franklin, Kentucky - Position Summary:
The Cost Accountant is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, cost calculations and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The Cost Accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Plans, studies, and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
Analyzes data collected and results recorded
Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine effects on cost
Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production results
Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures
Analyzes results of cost audits and prepares related reports
Makes estimates of new and proposed product costs
Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
Maintains Cost Accounting System (SAP)
Assists in month end close of the General Ledger
Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
Reconciles finished goods inventories
Provides cost information to production and tracks cost improvement programs.
Prepares P&L forecasts.
Does cost calculations for quotes and post calculations on a regular basis.
Exhibits the ability to accurately prepare ad hoc reports upon request
Education and Experience:
Minimum of 2 solid years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment
Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting
Must have a strong cost systems background and excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
Computer Literate ? Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word
Experience with SAP
Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
Additional Skills Desired :
Organized self-starter, highly-motivated, goal-oriented
Ability to work independently when required
Proficient computer skills: SAP, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to communicate in German a plus
