Home Health Aide/Certified Nursing Aide Job Opening in Wichita, Kansas - POSITION SUMMARY
Performs delegated activities; including activities of daily living and basic nursing care procedures and observes patient/client rights while in their home. Provides light housekeeping, and support activities delegated by a Registered Nurse or Therapist.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Helps patient/participant retrain in self-help skills. Promotes independent behaviors in ADL?s
Appropriately bathes patients/clients who may be confined to bed and who are
Assists with dressing and undressing as
Assists in care of mouth, teeth, hair, nails, and skin giving special attention to pressure points.
Appropriately assists patients/clients with ambulation and ROM as may pertain to use of bathroom and/or bedside
Cues regarding medication
Provides assistance with activities that are directly supportive of skilled therapy and nursing services, but do not require the skills of a therapist or nurse to be safely and effectively performed.
Provides appropriate housekeeping and support activities such as meal preparation, and grocery shopping, as indicated for Senior Service programs (SCA, HCBS, TLC).
Interacts in an emotionally supportive way with participants, patients, families and other care
Obtains and documents vital signs, weight as directed
Follows care plans/documentation: performs activity as
Legibly documents hygiene activity and safety parameters as indicated on the Home Health Aide assignment sheet.
Reports any changes related to physical, emotional, or behavioral status observed in condition of
Utilizes appropriate infection control practices.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Must complete the Home Health Aide course and take the State exam within three months after being employed in Home Health (may be optional for PACE sites).
Certified Nurse Aide + 1 year experience working with the elderly required in some communities.
One (1) year previous nurse aide (CNA) experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CNA required and maintained: HHA may be required for some communities
Valid driver?s license and personal transportation may be required for some
CPR certified
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Frequently required to carry or lift items weighing up to 25 pounds at waist height. Required to obtain assistance of another qualified employee when attempting to lift objects over 25 pounds.
Frequently required to assist in maneuvering resident/patients weighing 100-400 pounds and occasionally required to assist in maneuvering resident/patients weighing over 400 pounds.
Tolerate standing and walking for up to 8 hours at a time on hard and soft
Frequently perform activities that require stooping, bending and reaching, squatting, balancing, and trunk twisting throughout the day.
Constantly able to effectively communicate.
Occasionally required to sit in a stationary position for up to 30 minutes at one time.
Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds such as resident calls, verbal orders, monitors, and phone calls.
Frequently able to use hands and fingers to perform simple and fine motor handling tasks, such as taking vital signs, writing, and using a keyboard.
Frequently able to use different types of visual perceptions to perform activities such as moving medical equipment, evaluating resident/patients, reading monitors and charts, and reading computer screens.
Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate infection or other problems with a resident, or environmental issues such as smoke.

WORKING CONDITIONS CATEGORY I
Position is Category I of Potential Exposure. Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for every associate engaging in Category I tasks. Frequently exposed to blood, body fluids, fumes, or airborne particles, and sharp objects potentially contaminated with blood borne pathogens or other infectious agents.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Work is generally performed in an indoor, well-lighted, well-ventilated, heated and air- conditioned environment.
Subject to frequent interruptions by staff, residents, visitors, and volunteers.
Subject occasionally to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, staff, and visitors.
